Rheinard Schwartz 1929-2016

CHASE — Rheinard Schwartz, 86, passed away on Sept. 11, 2016 at his home near Chase. He was born on Nov. 4, 1929 to William and Martha (Blasi) Schwartz.
On Aug. 4, 1953 he was united in marriage to Joan Henning in Willowdale. He was a member of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, St. Joseph Catholic Church, loved to play pitch and Texas hold ‘em.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joan Schwartz of the home; Children, Rodney Schwartz, Curtis Schwartz (Salina), Florinda Standlee, Anita Christianson (Max), Shirley Schwartz (Kim Maser), Janice Simmons (Jim), Renee Kasselman (Patrick); Siblings, Maurice Schwartz, Edith Keller, Rosalyn Henning; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jason Schwartz; sisters, Lydia Weber, Salma Gregg, and Marci Suchy.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 1 p.m.-6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, at Minnis Chapel, with rosary and vigil services at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church, Ellinwood, in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
