Richard H. Hinkson 1922 - 2013

MCPHERSON — Richard Henry Hinkson, 90, died Jan. 8 at McPherson Hospital. Born April 19, 1922 in Sylvan Grove, he was the son of Mildred (Murphy) and Fred S. Hinkson. He graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg and held graduate degrees from Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo. He was an educator for nearly 40 years in the public schools of Kansas, 30 of which were spent in the public schools of Barton County. He was employed by the Claflin Public Schools for 11 years and by the Great Bend Public Schools for 20 years.
Mr. Hinkson was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in McPherson. He honorably served in the Army Air Corps throughout World War II.
He is survived by cousins.
A private burial took place at the Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln, Kan.
