GREAT BEND — Robert E. Schaub, 82, died March 11, 2014 at Hays Medical Center.
He was born April 9, 1931 at Independence, Mo., the son of John W. and Lydia E. (Lepp) Schaub.
He married Beverly Ann Keenan February 6, 1951 at Great Bend. She died Aug. 21, 2009.
He was employed by Gibson, Titus & Stafford and later was a welder for Clarke Well & Equipment, both of Great Bend. He also was a farmer.
Mr. Schaub was a Great Bend resident since 1950 coming from Independence, Mo. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 862, both of Great Bend.
Survivors include five sons, Kent Schaub and his wife Merris, Ness City; Richard Schaub, Missoula, Mont.; Kurtis Schaub and Annetta, Great Bend; Alan Schaub and his wife Kristi, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; and Kris Schaub and his wife Sharon, Tecumseh; a daughter, Elizabeth Price and her husband Steve, Kansas City, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, Stacy Franzen, Chad Jennings, Josh Schaub, Christina Nuckolls, Katelyn Schaub, Keenan Schaub, Kipp Schaub, Will Schaub, Lukas Schaub, Ben Schaub, and Lydia Schaub; eight great-grandchildren, Haley Jennings, Cole Franzen, Hayden Schaub, Jack Franzen, Harper Schaub, Abby Franzen, Rylie Nuckolls, and Ella Jennings.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie Schaub, and a sister, Helen Hall.
Vigil Service with Knights of Columbus Rosary is scheduled at 7 p.m Friday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Celebrant Father Ted Stoecklein. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial Funds are suggested to to Holy Family School or St. Rose Foundation for the benefit of Heartland Cancer Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
