CHASE — Robert E. “Bob” Coldwater, 86, died Sept. 13, 2016, at Lyons Good Samaritan Center. Born Nov. 14, 1929 at his parents homestead in rural Chase, he was the son of Walter and Jennie Caldwell Coldwater. In 1950 he graduated from Chase High School. On Nov. 25, 1950, he married Joan Y. Nearhood. She died on Jan. 1, 2013. A lifetime resident of Chase he was the owner and operator of Ace Welding, worked as a backhoe operator and was a farmer.
Mr. Coldwater served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Chase Senior Center.
Survivors include three daughters, Cindy and Hal Hollembeak of Great Bend, Elizabeth Coldwater of Chase and Tammy and Kirk Fish of Raymond; four granddaughters, Angela and Gavin Taylor, Anessa Fish, Ashlei Hollembeak and Sara Hollembeak; and one great-granddaughter, Brooke Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Walter William Coldwater Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons with the Rev. David Walters officiating. Burial will be at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., at Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons. Memorials are suggested to Chase Senior Center or Lyons Good Samaritan Center in care of the funeral home.
