HOISINGTON – SGM Retired Robert K. “Bob” Glynn, 92, died November 19, 2019, at his home in Hoisington. He was born October 2, 1927, in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Thomas Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Fitts) Glynn.
He worked for the US Postal Service and then the Department of Defense where he retired as a Sergeant Major.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, and was also a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants.
On April 12, 1949, he married Marlene Nettleingham, they later divorced.
On March 14, 1964, he married Mickie Thomas, in Hoisington. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2008.
Survivors include; a son, Hilton Glynn and wife Marie of Hoisington; son-in-law, Dan Esfeld of Hoisington; four grandchildren; Erin Hemphill and husband Brandon, Hayley Oswald, Jason Esfeld and wife Cindy, and Vania Earp; and nine great grandchildren, Addy and Avery Hemphill, Valerie Oswald, Dalton, Logan, and Megan Esfeld, and Peyton, Reagan, and Leah Earp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mickie Glynn, a daughter, Sherie Esfeld; siblings, Tommy Glynn, Mildred Ehrlich, Virginia Morris, John Glynn, Dorothy Degner, and Mary June Little.
Friends may call Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Monday, 1 to 8 p.m., with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Vigil and Rosary will begin at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home. Casket will be closed per Bob’s wishes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP. Burial with military rites will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington.
