Robert L. Grubbs 1930 - 2011
LARNED — Robert L. Grubbs, 81, died March 30, at his home, Larned.
He was born Feb. 15, 1930 in Jean, Texas, the son of George Washington and Ida Pearl Brooks Grubbs. A longtime area resident, he was a farmer and rancher and owner of Lonestar Tank Truck and Bob’s Well Service. On June 29, 1947, he married Mary Alice Heilman at Wichita Falls, Texas. They later divorced.
Mr. Grubbs was of the Baptist religion, and active in the Farm Aid Movement.
Survivors include, a son, Tommy Grubbs, Grand Prairie, Texas; a daughter, Carol Carlson, Larned; a brother, Hugh Grubbs, Newcastle, Texas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Grubbs; four sisters, Ruby Buffington, Ethel Black, Thelma Grubbs, Ovell McSpadden; and a brother, Aulbrey Grubbs.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerrel presiding. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the Doerr-Vernon Park Renovation and Splash Pad in care of the funeral home.
