Ronald Gene “Roon” Zimmerman, 59, died Jan. 1, 2017, at Almost Home, Inc., Great Bend. He was born Oct. 21, 1957, at Great Bend, the son of Donald Dean “Zip” and Elizabeth I. “Betty” (Sanders) Zimmerman. He was a truck driver and later manager of Zips Service and Z’s Liquor. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend. He was a United States Navy veteran.

Mr. Zimmerman was a member of Prince of Peace of Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Joey Zimmerman and wife Sara of Great Bend, and Denny Zimmerman and wife Stacy of Searcy, Ark; two sisters, Yvonne Sumner and her husband Greg of Norcatur, and Linda Johnson and her husband Mike of Great Bend; and 19 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Zimmerman Jr., and Rick Zimmerman, and one sister, Debbie Branstetter.

Services were held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. Inurnment was in Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. The family requested this obituary be delayed to prevent undue heartache for Roon’s mother, Betty Zimmerman.
