Roy L. Myers 1921 - 2013

Roy L. Myers, 91, died Feb. 3 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 29, 1921 in Otto, he was the son of Herman W. and Olive M. (Utt) Myers. On July 6, 1942, he married Juanita Ruth Hensley in Wichita. She died on May 4, 2008. A resident of Great Bend since 1965, coming from Ellinwood, he was the former owner and operator of H&R Block.
Mr. Myers was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180 and Silver Cougar Club, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Lynn Myers and his wife Jacqueline of Great Bend and David L. Myers of New Castle, N.H.; two sisters, Lavada Quiggens of Spavinaw, Okla. and Caroline Bell of Derby; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Myers and his wife Danielle, Scott Myers and his wife Shelly, Timothy Myers, Betsy Johnson and her husband Steve, David Myers and his wife Shannon, Kevin Myers and his wife Molly, Jennifer Kneaval and her husband Chip, and Emily Rembert and her husband Sam; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Anne Myers; one sister, Betty Palmer; and one great-grandson, Will Myers.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Central Baptist Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Dr. Gordon Rhodes and the Rev. John Grummon officiating, with military rites by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home.
