Sandra J. Boyce, 78, passed away on Sept. 10, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born on Sept. 27, 1936, at Bar Harbor, Maine she was the daughter of Walter and Ethel (Reynolds) Dwelley. She graduated from Westbrook High School in Westbrook, Maine and later attended Nursing College in New Hampshire for two years. On Oct. 25, 1978, she was united in marriage to James L. “Jim” Boyce at Swan Valley, Idaho. He died on Jan. 16, 2012. The couple lived in Whittier, Calif. and Idaho Falls, Idaho for many years prior to moving to Great Bend in 1998. Sandra worked as an accountant for various companies prior to her retirement, and after moving to Great Bend she worked part time for Sunflower Diversified Services in Great Bend for about five years. She enjoyed oil painting, needlework, playing piano, was an accomplished seamstress, and growing flowers.
Survivors include one son, Steven W. Skolas and his wife, Carol, of Great Bend; one daughter, Jackie Fisher and her husband, Robert, of San Clemente, Calif.; three grandchildren, Stacey Mudgett, Diana Ewing, and Steven J. Skolas; and six great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Peter, and Nicole Abundis, Wyatt Mudgett, and Reagan and Ryder Skolas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James L. Boyce; one brother Don Dwelley, and two sisters,(Virginia Powers and Barbara Taylor.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 15, at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, with the Reverend John Grummon officiating. Interment was at Great Bend Cemetery North in Great Bend. Memorials may be directed to the Wesley Medical Center Foundation at Wichita or the Golden Belt Humane Society of Great Bend.
