HOISINGTON — Sandra K. Brinson, 66, died Dec. 8 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Oct. 4, 1946 at Yale, Okla., she was the daughter of Alvin M. Sr. and Mildred Faye (Lanning) Sweeden. A lifelong resident of Barton County, she graduated from Great Bend High School. On June 28, 1964, she married Loren (Gene) Brinson in  Great Bend. She was employed by C.O. Mammels grocery store until they closed. She was a caregiver for many people throughout the years.
Mrs. Brinson was a member of the Veterans of Foriegn Wars Women’s Auxiliary and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, both in Hoisington. She enjoyed caring for animals and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Loren (Gene) Brinson of Hoisington; two brothers, Alvin M. Sweeden Jr. and wife Donna, of Krebs, Okla. and Gerald R. Sweeden and wife Karen of Hutchinson; five sisters, Helen Senn of Lake Arrowhead, Calif., Faye Lamb and husband Jerry, Carol Fox and husband Richard and Kathy Coyle, all of Great Bend, and Ruth Staley and husband Dwight of Salina; numerous nieces and nephews including special nephew J.D. Farmer and wife Rose of Hoisington; and goddaughter and niece Shelby (Bo) Zuniga and husband Juan of Midland, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Don Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, with family present from 6 until 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Humane Society or KANS for Kids in care of the funeral home.
