SAN JOSE, Calif. — Sara S. Dale, 86, died Feb. 13, 2016.
Born on June 29, 1929, in Plainview, Texas, she was the daughter of the Rev. Dr. Burney and Frances Norton Shell. She grew up in Texas and Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas and Michigan State University. In 1952, she married the Rev. Louis L. Dale. They lived in Highland, Concordia, Newton, Salina, Garden City, Dodge City, Great Bend and Hutchinson. She retired from teaching in the Science Department at Hutchinson Community College after 24 years. In 2007, she moved to the San Jose area to be closer to her daughter.
Survivors include two children, Elizabeth (Jim) Kahn, and Jon (Kathryn) Dale; and three grandchildren she adored, Caroline and Katie Kahn and Nick (Madison) Dale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Frances Hudson and Martha Emerson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton. A private inurnment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nature Conservancy or Dillon Nature Center in Hutchinson.
