Cimarron – Sharon Kay Base, 70, passed away Feb. 13, 2018 at The Shepherd’s Center, Cimarron. She was born Jan. 1, 1948 in Larned, the daughter of Dan and Nancy Barker Base. She raised her children in Dodge City, and then went on to live in several communities working for Aquila Gas Company.
She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed Senior Olympics and was very active in senior living in her home.
Survivors include, son, Jeff (Marlene) Bamberger, Dodge City; daughter, Denise (Edward) Blackwell, Dodge City; three brothers, Jerry Base, Smolan, Donald Base, Ellsworth, Darrell Base, Cimarron; sister, Barbara Kroupa, Marion; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor Mike Keating presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Pawnee Rock Cemetery, Pawnee Rock. Memorials may be given to Sharon Base Memorial Fund in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.
