Sister Kevin Clavin

Sister Kevin Clavin, 83, died April 20, 2022, at the KU Med Center in Kansas City, Kan. She was born May 8, 1938, in Kilbeggan, Ireland, the daughter of James and Molly Mulligan Clavin. She entered the Dominican Sisters Community in 1955 and pronounced vows in 1958. Sister Kevin celebrated 60 years of religious profession in 2018.

Sister Kevin ministered as an elementary school teacher for 52 years, serving in several schools in Kansas and Colorado, ending her career after serving 27 years in Durango, Colo. She retired to the motherhouse in Great Bend in 2011 where she served her Sisters in numerous ways.

Sister Kevin was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bro. James Clavin. She is survived by four brothers, Pat (Evelyn) Clavin, John (Susan) Clavin, Lian (Fidelma) Clavin, all of Ireland, and Rev. Oliver Clavin of Springfield, Mo. and two sisters, Joan Young of Overland Park, Kan., and Evelyn (Richard) Hefferan of Ireland; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as the Dominican Sisters of Peace.  

A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 on Friday, April 29. Both will take place at the Sisters’ Convent. Burial will be in the Sisters’ Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Sister Kevin may be sent to Hope for the Village Child (benefits the Sisters’ Nigerian Mission), Dominican Sisters of Peace, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, OH 43219-2098.
