Teresa Marie Dolechek

HOISINGTON – Teresa Marie Dolechek, 102, died April 10, 2022, at Country Place Senior Living, Hoisington, Kansas.  She was born August 24, 1919, on the family farm outside of Claflin, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Zecha) Miller.   Teresa was a graduate of Claflin High School. 

On May 27, 1941, she married Paul Dolechek in Claflin, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on July 21, 2006. 

A lifetime Barton County resident, Teresa was a homemaker and farm wife and also worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Clara Barton Hospital. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society and was a past member of the Daughters of Isabella of Claflin. Teresa was known for her amazing cooking, her love of card games, and most especially her pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her five children; Carol Schreiber (Joe) of Arlington, Texas, Danny Dolechek of Hoisington, Connie Petersen of Albert, Joni Lawrence (Brian) of Lawrence, and Paula Lumley of Olpe; a sister, Roberta Prosser of Hoisington; and sixteen grandchildren, Cathy Schreiber, Terri Bussenius, Joseph Schreiber, Diane Durland, Doug Dolechek, Debbie Folk, Denise Schmidt, Tracey Swalley, Tim Alderdice, Todd Alderdice, Tammy Ficken, Matt Lawrence, Jeremy Lawrence, Joel Lawrence, Maggie Ziglar, and Michael Lumley; 36 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons-in-law, Robert Petersen and David Lumley; two brothers, Bill and Martin Miller, and four sisters, Leona Leiker, Marie Hoss, Doris Smith, and Rita Doll.

Visitation will be Monday 9 a.m., to 8 p.m., with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.. Vigil and Rosary will begin at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Meinrad Miller.  Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington, Kansas.
