Thomas R. “Tom” Holstrom, 63, of Blue Springs, Mo. passed away on April 19, 2012. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Tom will be remembered for his success as a chemist and executive in the manufacturing industry as well as for his passion for auto racing.
Tom began his professional career in 1970 as a research chemist for C.J. Patterson Company and was promoted to the position of process engineer at the Patco Products division of C.J. Patterson. In 1979, he moved to the Sealright Company, where he worked for 17 years in a variety of management roles including quality-control manager, process manager and chief process engineer. For the past 14 years, he worked for PBI/Gordon Corporation, where he served as the vice president of operations from 1999 until his death.
Tom was born May 11, 1948, in Lawrence, Kan., the son of Ralph and Margaret (House) Holstrom. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Kansas in May 1970. On June 6, 1970, he married Gloria Schneider, formerly of rural Albert. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Blue Springs, Mo.; their son, Aaron; daughter-in-law, Melissa; three grandchildren, Makenna, Leila and Aaron Thomas Holstrom, all of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and his brother, Randy, of Pompano Beach, Fla.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24, from 3 - 4:30 p.m. at the Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 West Main Street, Blue Springs, MO 64015. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom’s memory are suggested to www.CaringBridge.org
