Tom Stephen Walton 1946-2014

FREDONIA — Tom Stephen Welton, 67, a resident of Fredonia, formerly of Hoisington, and El Dorado, died July 5, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. Born Aug. 7, 1946, in Great Bend, he was the son of Donald E. and Mable (Roche) Welton. Tom was a graduate of Hoisington High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University.   He was a retired office manager for Automotive Specialists in El Dorado.  
Tom served in the United States Navy from Feb. 26, 1968, to November 28, 1973. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hoisington.
Survivors include, two sisters, Judy (James) Brittain of St. Louis, Mo., and Susan Welton of Fredonia; one brother, William Welton of Perth, Australia; nieces and nephew, Julia Arth of St. Louis, Mo., Jana Drew of Austin, Texas, Wendy Welton of Adalade, Mo., and Scott Welton of Perth, Australia; three great nieces; two great nephews; and one great-great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mable Welton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, with Mike Myers officiating.  Burial will be at the Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may stop by Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia on Tuesday and Wednesday to sign the register book. Memorials are suggested to the Hoisington Public Library in care of Timmons Funeral Home or Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.timmonsfuneralhome.com.
