OTIS — Velma M. Freidenberger, 83, Otis, Ks., died Thursday, March 15, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Freidenberger was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Ness County, Ks., the daughter of Edgar S. and Violet E. (Owens) Kanaga. She was a lifelong resident of Ness and Rush Counties, Ks. A 1953 graduate of Ness City High School, Ness City, Ks., she was a clerk for the United States Postal Service before her retirement.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, Ks.
On Oct. 17, 1954, she married George A. Freidenberger in Otis, Ks. He preceded her in death Aug. 2, 2010.
Survivors include, two sons, Timothy Freidenberger (Sue), Columbus, Ohio, and Paul Freidenberger (Eva), Needville, Texas; and two grandchildren, Brad Freidenberger, and Ashton Freidenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Velton Kanaga, Melvin Kanaga, Dudley Kanaga, and Darrell Kanaga; and one sister, Dorothy Smith.
Graveside memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Otis Lutheran Cemetery, Otis, Ks., with Pastor Bruce Adamson officiating. Inurnment will be in the Otis Lutheran Cemetery, Otis, Ks. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
