ELLINWOOD — Vernon F. Robl, 91, passed away April 20, 2020, at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood. He was born on Oct. 25, 1928, in Ellinwood, the son of George and Loretta (Schartz) Robl. He married Marlene Schawe on Nov. 19, 1955, in Great Bend. He later married Patricia (Zahn) Steadman on Aug. 22, 1996, in St. John. She died Feb. 13, 2012.
A lifetime Ellinwood resident, Vernon worked for the United States Postal Service in Ellinwood as a letter carrier. He retired after 34 years of service on Feb. 1, 1984. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood, a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Post #1187, National Association of Letter Carriers, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, American Legion Post #180, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to various types of music, attending concerts, and visiting with friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include, seven sons, Vincent Robl (Terry) of Broken Arrow, Okla., Lawrence Robl (Norma) of Ellinwood, Dale Robl (Judy) of Salina, Quentin Robl (Christine) of Salina, Phillip Robl (Cassindra) of Wichita, Mark Robl (Sally) of Coweta, Okla., and Charles Robl of Salina; a daughter, Rita Angione (Jeff) of Hyde Park, Vt.; a step daughter, Lisa Weber (Corey) of St. John; a sister, Eileen Wilson (Wayne) of Weatherford, Okla.; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Raymond Robl and Martin Robl.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home. A private rosary and funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by the Kansas National Guard. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
