WICHITA — Viola M. Bennett, 85, died July 14, 2011 at Catholic Care Center, Wichita.
She was born November 8, 1925 at Odin, the daughter of Andrew and Stephania (Zorn) Kirmer. She married Ray G. Bennett October 5, 1948 at Dubuque, Kansas. He died March 6, 1982.
She was a homemaker and a Wichita resident for 12 years, coming from the Hoisington and Dorrance area. She was a former member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Altar Society, Christian Mothers, all of Dubuque and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society, Hoisington. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, baking and sewing. She was very loving and caring.
Survivors include three daughters, Therese Leiker, Wichita; Janet Hemmen and husband Jim, Wichita; and Alyce Winters and husband Bryan, Wichita; a sister, Irene Carlisle, Woodward, Okla.; three brothers: Bernard Kirmer, Claflin; Andrew Kirmer, Rogers, Ark.; and Richard Kirmer, Hoisington; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin Kirmer.
A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Celebrant Father Francis Oroffa. Interment will be at the St. Catherine Cemetery, Dubuque.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday with an Altar Society rosary at 7 p.m. at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington.
Memorials are suggested to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Catholic Care Center, Wichita, both in care of the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Box 146, Hoisington, KS, 67544.
