HOISINGTON — Wanda Lee Deer,93, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Wichita. Born on Feb. 28, 1921 in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Frank Edward and Nellie (Coats) Sypolt.
On May 19, 1960, Wanda was united in marriage to Kelso Deer and he preceded her in death. She worked as an executive secretary for Phillips Petroleum for many years.
Survivors include her twin sister, Wilma Wagner of Hoisington; four nieces, Wanda Jo Madden (Michael) of Hoisington and Nora Kirkpatrick of Roanoke, Va., niece, Karen Kirkpatrick (Bill) of Beatrice, Neb., and Janet Murphy (Jim) of Mesa, Ariz.; two nephews, Tom VanBrimmer (Karen) of Hoisington, and Keith Wagner of Canton, Mich.; and two stepsons, Montie Deer (Jan) of Topeka, David Deer (Camille) of Loch Lloyd, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nellie Sypolt; brothers: Elmer Sypolt, Mervin Sypolt, Melvin Sypolt and E.B. Gilbert Sypolt; sisters: Lola Moorhead, Opal VanBrimmer and Reita Rice; niece, Nell Marie Wagner, and nephews, Willis VanBrimmer and Jimmie Adkins.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Kans for Kids and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countysidefh.com.
