Wanda Smith, 79, died Oct. 7 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 22, 1933, she was the daughter of Lucius Lee and Gladys Fern Greene Cobb. On July 1, 1950 she married William R. Smith in Kansas City, Mo. He died on Oct. 21, 1999. A resident of Great Bend since 1999, coming from Kansas City, Mo., she was employed by Manor Bakery as a department manager, for Clarke Printing Company, and was a homemaker.
Wanda and her husband, Bill, enjoyed the pursuit of a good garage sale.  She treasured her time with her children, grandchildren, and her dogs, Penny and Baby.  Above all, she had consistently placed other people’s needs ahead of her own, always giving of herself.
Survivors include one son, Gary Smith and wife Wanda of Great Bend; two daughters, Susie Lundquist and husband Terry of Great Bend and Debbie Mitchell and husband Matt of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; one sister, Loma Moore of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Jessie, Jennie, Brett, Christy, Sheila, Billie, Amanda, Nathan, Brian, and Donald; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Cobb and Robert Cobb; and by one sister, Lois Faye Cobb.
Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
