Dear editor,

It always amazes me when someone wants to get into your pocket, they try to make it sound like they’re doing you such a big favor. If you vote for the big projects, the state will pay a big part of it. Making it a big bargain for you.

Well, I ask you where does the state get its money? Do you think they’re big rich uncles that are just being generous with their wealth? Not hardly, they get their money the same place that the city and county gets theirs. From the taxpayer.

Come on, stop piping smoke. Tell it like it is. They say part of the money is to be spent on storm shelters and other safety features. Well I say OK great. But, they always throw in the extra wants with the package. They’re using the safety of your kids to get the extra wants on their list.

Every government budget has extra wants attached to it, because it’s the only way they can get it approved. Just one time I would like to see a budget that is designed with the taxpayer in mind. Right now, I think that money would be better spent on our streets than on a bus barn, and playground equipment. We need to get our priorities in line. Needs first, wants with what’s left over.
