Dear Editor,

I would like to express my support for our police chief, Clifford Couch. I have talked with him personally and heard several of his public presentations. I have found Chief Couch to be a dedicated, highly principled, articulate, natural leader. He knows what is necessary to provide Great Bend the best possible policing and is trying hard to provide just that.
Unfortunately, some of these necessary steps and recommendations for improvement have met with resistance from our city manager, and therein lies the problem we are now facing.
It is my hope that our city council will reconsider and give Chief Couch the opportunity to continue to lead our police force without further strife and or litigation.
