Seventy-six Barton Community College student-athletes have been awarded All-Academic honors amongst the NJCAA’s 6,656 student-athletes earning a spot on one of three NJCAA All-Academic teams.

Earning the second most honors across the nation, Barton’s haul of awards surpassed last year’s achievement of 69 individuals as the NJCAA also saw a record year of more than 200 additional individuals achieving a 3.60 grade point average or better in the classroom.

Twenty-five Cougars joined 1,407 nation-wide recipients in receiving first team honors. The women’s basketball team claimed department bragging honors landing seven on the top squad of 4.0 GPA earners with the women’s swim team garnering four perfect GPA achievements.

Landing three on the first squad, baseball tacked on ten second team 3.80-3.99 GPA earners on its way to leading the department in total selections with twenty-two from its thirty-seven member roster.

Softball had three each on the first team and 3.60-3.79 GPA third team with an additional six more garnering second team honors to accumulate a department second best twelve total awards, two ahead of women’s basketball team’s ten academic achievements.

Barton had 24 representatives on the second team with 27 on the third squad to finish tied with Iowa Western as both fell shy of Monroe College (NY) Mustangs’ achievement of a nation leading 80 recipients.
