SALINA — The Barton Community College women’s golf team led the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference meet after Sunday’s opening round.
However, Dodge City was able to come back on Monday to beat the Lady Cougars.
“After the first semester, Dodge City had beaten us twice,” Barton head coach Doug Kaiser said. “We took second twice, and the girls practiced really hard over the winter.
“We were pretty pleased with the seven-stroke lead we had over Dodge after Sunday.”
Dodge City beat Barton by 27 and 17 strokes in the first two meets. After Monday, Dodge City finished with 524, putting it seven strokes ahead of Barton.
With the win, Dodge City secured the KJCCC title.
Kaylee Rudolf was the top finisher for Barton. She led after one day at 38 and finished at 129 to take fourth place.
Allysa Dickman finished in sixth place, and Lindsey Wait took tenth place.
Barton will host the final KJCCC meet of the season at Stone Ridge Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
