BATON ROUGE, La. – The Barton women’s track team saw some of the best the NCAA has to offer this past weekend at the Louisiana State University Alumni Gold Meet at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge.
The Cougars turned in some good times at the meet with one of the best efforts coming by the 4x100m relay team that fourth behind LSU, Clemson, and Texas.
The Cougars quartet of Keosha Sanders, Asjah Wallace, Chanelle Ricketts, and Sabrina Mason ran a 45.31 for the top junior college time at the event. It was the best time of the year Barton and third best overall in the NJCAA on the season.
The 4x400m team finished seventh. Mason, Ricketts, Rian Robinson and Wallace ran a 3:45.76.
Ricketts turned in a 54.11 in the 400m to finish 10th overall, posting the third best NJCAA time in the nation this year. Robinson is right behind her with a 54.12 earlier this year. At LSU, Robinson ran a 54.18 for 12th.
Also earning a top 10 effort at LSU was Ed’Quisha Alvin with a fifth place finish in the high jump a 5-5.75. Fiona Barnes was seventh in the long jump at 18-4.25.
The Cougars will travel to Fort Hays State this weekend where some members of the team will compete in preparation for the Region VI meet. That meet will be in Arkansas City on May 4-6.
