The Barton women’s golf team put the final touches on a successful fall schedule by winning its own Invitational last week.
The Cougars out-dueled Bethany College to capture the Barton Fall Invitational at StoneRidge Golf Course.
Barton shot a 332 over the 18-hole event, winning by 13 over Bethany, which shot a 345. Coffeyville finished a distant third at 425 with the Barton B team close behind at 429.
“It has been a pretty good fall season for the girls,” Coach Doug Kaiser said. “We had to replace some good golfers from last year and the new girls have stepped in with the ones we had returning and put together a good fall.”
Aspen Bryant of Bethany won individual honors with a 75 followed by three Barton golfers. Vilma Efraimsson finished with a 79, Mutita Booranakunamanee at 81 and Lucia Rodriguez Zapico with an 83.
Miranda Kern finished sixth with an 89 and Kendra Jellison tied for seventh with a 92.
Barton and Bethany had all the top 10 finishers.
For the Barton B, Sydney Kirmse led the way with a 105 on the cold, blustery day. Gracen Haar-Becker shot a 106, Taylor Becker and Delaney Smith shot a 109 followed by Amy Akler at 111.
The Cougars will tee it back up in the spring in late March. The Cougars will head to the off season ranked No. 10 in the nation.
