FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Barton Community College’s men 200-yard medley relay captured the NJCAA title (3:20.78) with Javan Titus, Ethan Baylin, Dominik Strba and Louis Ainley cutting 0.19-seconds off the program's top time.
The foursome finished runner-up in 200-medley relay (1:30.93) with the second quickest time in program history at the 2024 NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships
Barton’s men placed fourth for the second straight year with 467 points. Overall, both squads achieved more than 50 personal and/or season bests.
Individually Ainley highlighted the men performances capturing national runner-up finishes and the programs quickest times in the 50-yard backstroke (22.55) and 100-backstroke (49.20). The freshman's final podium finish came in the 50-breaststroke earning a third place and third quickest time in program history (25.37).
Indian River, Fla. claimed the program's 50th straight national title (1,330) with Southwest Oregon (806) finishing runner-up at 806 and Iowa Central Community College rounding out in third with 590 points.
BARTON WOMEN – The Barton Community College women’s swimming team placed third at the 2024 NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Cougars scored 560 points to place third for the second consecutive year.
Indian River, Fla. captured its 42nd NJCAA championship with 1,374 points ahead of SW Oregon (674)
Distance specialist Aleksandra Cicha placed fourth with the program's second fastest time (11:14.23) in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Lara accounted for 54 points.
In the 800-yard free relay, Cicha joined Silvana Jacquez Viveros, Caroline Tipton and Elena Lara for a third place finish with the program's fifth fastest time.
Ciaha earned two sixths and a fifth place individually plus two more third-place relays.
Jacquez Viveros scored 51 points. She placed fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:14.0).
Joining Lara and Jacquez Viveros on both third place 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays was Claire Holt and Caroline Tipton.
