GARDEN CITY — The Barton Community College baseball team couldn’t make up enough ground from slow starts in both Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference games on Saturday against Garden City.
Barton fell 10-5 in Game 1, and lost 4-3 in Game 2.
The Cougars had to deal with a hot-hitting Broncbusters, who scored at least one run in five of their six innings in the first game.
In Game 2, Barton trailed 4-1 before launching an attempted rally, scoring two runs in the top of the eighth before leaving the bases loaded to fall 4-3.
With the pair of losses Barton falls to 14-28 overall, 9-17 in conference play. Garden City improves to 22-23, 16-10.
The teams will wrap up their four-game series today, playing a seven-inning game at 1 p.m., followed by a nine-inning game.
