GARDEN CITY -- The Barton Community College women's basketball team continued its hot stretch earning a 63-53 win at Garden City Community College.

Barton (12-3, 7-2 Jayhawk) drops Garden City (10-5, 5-5 Jayhawk) to its third straight loss. A big test to the win streak looms Saturday as Barton hosts No. 14 ranked Dodge City (14-2, 8-2) at 2 p.m.

The inside game helped produce a 32-point difference in the paint and a plus-24 in rebounds led by Vivian Onugha's 18 points and 11 rebounds for her 6th double-double of the year while Vera Ojenuwa was close behind at 14 points and 11 rebounds for her third straight and 8th double-double of the season.

The pair combined for seven of the Cougars' ten steals, Onugha with a game high 5 steals for the second straight game with Ojenuwa collecting two.

Held scoreless Saturday, Tatum Boettjer was back in the scoring column with a team second best 16 points, draining 2-of-6 behind the arc and dishing out four assists.

Grace John nearly pulled off her second collegiate double-double as the 5'5" guard hauled down 9 rebounds and dished out a game high 9 assists while adding four points to the boxscore.

KJCCC assist leader Quezia Bertoni distributed 4 assists, to go along with, 9 points and 3 steals.

McKenna Vogl was Barton's lone points off the bench with two but hauled down a 9 rebounds helping Barton to its largest edge on the boards this season in tying its November 10 performance versus Redlands.

The Cougars scored the first four points and never looked back, adding to their halftime edge by holding Garden City to just five points in the third frame extending the lead to sixteen headed to the final period.

After Barton pushed the lead to as much as eighteen with six minutes to play, Garden City would eventually outscore the Cougars by seven in the final period but wasn't enough as Barton rolled to its fifth straight win and second straight on the Broncbusters' home court.

Garden City’s Sierra Driessen scored 15 points and Sariah Conley added 12 points.
