Two for two for the Barton women’s golf team.
The Cougars won their second straight Jayhawk Conference golf meet over the weekend and it wasn’t even close. Barton cruised to a 41-stroke win, burying the field on the final day.
Barton led by 15 strokes after 18 holes of play then clubbed the competition the second day. Over just nine holes of play Saturday, Barton outshot runner-up Dodge City by 26 strokes for the easy win.
Peerada Piddon again led the Cougars but came up a shot short of her second conference win of the season. Piddon shot a 76 the opening day to take a 2-stroke lead into Saturday but her 39 placed her second.
Barton finished with 525 strokes for the win while Dodge shot 566. Coffeyville had a player withdraw and did not field a team score.
Rachanok Rahulpan of Dodge City shot 78-36 a 114 total as three players battled for the top spot. Piddon was second with her 115 total while Dodge’s Orakorn Thirayatorn shot 78-38 for a 116.
The rest of the top 10 belonged to Barton and Coffeyville as the Cougars put all five golfers in the top 10.
Mackenzie Fabrizius took fourth, shooting an 89-41 for a 130 total, solidly in fourth place. Kendra Jellison joined a pair of Coffeyville golfers tied for fifth with a 139. Jellison opened with a 96 then found her stroke Saturday, shooting a 43.
Miranda Kern was eighth with a 95-46 for a 141 total while Janae Champlin shot a 104-55 for a 159 in 10th.
Playing as individuals for Barton, Taylor Becker tied for 11th with a 163 total and Olivia Neuenswander finished in 13th with a 164 total.
The fall portion of the schedule will come to a close this weekend as the Cougars travel to Dodge City for the third KJCCC meet at Mariah Hills.
