The Barton Community College men’s golf team finished in fifth place at the Kansas Jayhawk Comminuty College Conference Championships held at Newton’s Sand Creek Golf Course.
The Cougars posted the fourth-best final-round score of 308 to finish 10 strokes of fourth place.
The placing, coupled with the solid tournament by Kansas City Kansas, dropped Barton to the fifth spot in the season standings, the best since the 2011 season.
Winfield freshman Landon Fox fired a team-low 75 in the final round to place 12th to lead four Cougars in the top 21 of the individual.
Barton will next compete at the NJCAA Region VI and District III Championship on April 28-29 at the Championship Course at Alvamar in Lawrence.
