Cougars shut down Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON — The Barton Community College men’s basketball team overcame Hutchinson’s home-court advantage.
The Cougars got ahead late and made 6 of 6 free throws in the final 30 seconds to secure a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division win, 87-82.
Barton improves to 20-9 overall, 8-5 in the West. Hutchinson drops to 22-7, 8-5.
Tyler Corley led all scorers with 29 points.
Isaac Williams finished with a double-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He went 4-for-7 on 3-point shots.
Darius Gibson scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

WOMEN

Hutchinson 69, Barton 58
HUTCHINSON — The Barton Community College women’s basketball team outscored Hutchinson 39-36 in the second half, but had already dug too mutch of a hole.
The Lady Cougars fell 69-58 on Saturday on the road in a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division matchup.
Barton drops to 18-11 overall, 6-7 in the West, and Hutchinson improves to 27-0, 13-0.
Barton shot the ball well, going 19-for-41 (46.3 percent).
However, Barton had 21 turnovers.
Cheyenne Hedrington and Ashton Bruner each had 14 points and eight rebounds, team-highs in both categories.
