INDEPENDENCE — The Barton Community College men’s golf team began the 2013 season on Monday, capturing three out of the top four places at the Dave Dennis Low Ball Tournament held at the Independence Country Club.
The Cougars secured first, third and fourth place finishes in the two-man low ball tournament used to prepare the team for the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference season.
Winning the 27-hole tournament was sophomore duo Jeremie Eloy and Alex Hobelmann. They shot a 7-under 99 to win by three strokes.
Freshmen Landon Fox and Zack Proffitt carded a 2-under 104 for third place, while sophomore Kyle Hoover and freshman Koby Beougher combined to finish fourth at 1-under 105.
Barton will begin conference play on Monday, Sept. 9, at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield. It will be the first of five KJCCC tournaments.
