King named Jayhawk Conference player of week for his recent play

Barton Community College baseball player Alex King has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Verizon Wireless Player of the Week.
The sophomore from Topeka put together six solid games batting .500 in the leadoff position helping the Cougars to a 4-2 record to start the conference season including a four-game split with conference-leading Seward County this past weekend.
King went 11-for-22 with three doubles and a triple for a .727 slugging percentage, drawing six walks for a .621 on base percentage while also stealing four bases. From his center field position, King was just as solid recording 13 putouts in 13 chances.
King averaged .353 as the Cougars won seven out of their last 10 games to even their overall record to 7-7.
