Lady Cougars shut down Lady Panthers

CHANUTE — Getting a solid second-half effort, the Barton Community College women’s soccer team picked up a 2-0 shutout Saturday over Neosho County.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Cougars’ Molly Hausmann gave Barton a 1-0 lead 2:33 into the second half as she hammered home Mariana Poveda’s cross pass.
Barton added to its lead midway through the second half when Jessica Rosenberg scored off a Katelyn James pass.
With the victory, the Lady Cougars improve to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play
Barton will be back in action today as the Lady Cougars have a 1 p.m. contest at Independence.

Cougars win
in double overtime
CHANUTE — The No. 12-ranked Barton men’s soccer team needed two overtimes to defeat Neosho County 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars’ game-winning goal came off David Lazarof’s volley from Ebu Camara with 2:07 left in double overtime.
Barton improves to 7-1-1 on the season and remains undefeated in KJCCC play at 4-0.
Barton is set to challenge Independence at 3 p.m. today in Independence.
