Lady Cougars win fifth straight game

IOLA — The Barton Community College women’s soccer team shut out Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference foe Allen 5-0 on Friday for its fifth straight victory.
The Lady Cougars (6-1 overall, 3-0 KJCCC) are one of three undefeated teams in conference play.
Bianca Barron broke the stalemate 42 minutes into the game to give Barton a 1-0 halftime lead.
Ruth Cazier scored two goals in the second half, and Katelyn James and Barron each added one in the closing minutes of the game.
The Lady Cougars host top-ranked Hutchinson at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Barton soccer and track complex.

Cougars blank Allen
The No. 16-ranked Barton men’s soccer team shut down Allen 2-0 on Friday.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead to halftime on Tyler Dixon’s pass to Ebu Camara with 14 minutes left in the half.
Mariano Gelso connected with Sam McCrillis in the opening minutes of the second half.
Barton (6-1-1, 3-0) travels to Neosho at 4 p.m. on Saturday, and wrap up the trip next Sunday with a game at Independence, starting at 3 p.m.
