Monarchs beat Bat Cats back-to-back

MONARCHS 9, BAT CATS 2 — Great Bend Bat Cat All-Star Armani Raygoza, batting. 398, doubled twice, singled twice and scored a run. Jackson Webster singled in Jake Tatom and Raygoza scored on Jase Woita's sacrifice fly.

The rest of Sunday night was a disaster.

The Hutchinson Monarchs roared past the Bat Cats 9-2 to hand Great Bend its first Jayhawk League series loss. Hutchinson travels to Great Bend Monday night for the third game.

The Bat Cats delivered 11 hits, but stranded 10 baserunners. Robby Bolin, Grant Nottlemann, Matthew Mendez and Jace Wentling singled.

Bat Cat pitchers walked nine batters and hit a batters to hand the Monarchs 10 free baserunners. Five Monarch runs scored after a free base. Hogan Shelby and Cal York each drove in two runs. Will Edmunson homered. Caleb Cotton, Jaden Gustafson and Max Buettenback also drove in runs against Great Bend pitchers Anthony Treto (2-1), Georgr Austin and Paco Hernandez.
