A pair of Barton Community College women’s soccer players were selected to the Jayhawk Conference first team and a total of six were honored in all.
Millie York and Maria Rodriguez were picked to the first team making York a two-time selection. The sophomore from England repeated her selection as a first team in the back row. Rodriguez, a freshman from Garden City, was picked to the first team as a midfielder.
York scored a pair of goals from her defender position to go with a team-high four assists while Rodriguez also had two goals and one assist.
The Cougars leading scorer on the season, Dodge City freshman Edith Scarlett Real, was a second team pick along with fellow freshman Maria Munoz and sophomore Ronnie Johnson.
Real scored 11 goals on the season and added two assists from her forward position. Munoz, a freshman from Topeka, earned her honor in the midfield. She was third on the team with four goals and tied with York for the team lead in assists with four.
Johnson was a repeat pick as well, earning honorable mention status last season before improving to a second team pick this year. The Oklahoma native was a big part of the backline which produced 10 shutouts and allowed more than two goals only twice.
Rounding out the Cougars selections was sophomore forward Aliya Marshall. A product of Wichita East High School, Marshall was second on the team in scoring seven goals. She was picked as an honorable mention forward.
