HILL CITY — Ellinwood's past fourth-place state finisher Erin Hammeke earned a trio of state qualifying berths with fourth place, 800 meters (2:26.43); third place, 1,600 meters (5:34.96) and fourth place, 3,200 meters (12:55.18) at the challenging 2A Hill City track regional.
Hammeke placed fourth (5:37.15) and ninth (5:39.75) at 2A state in the 1,600 and fourth (12:22.29) and seventh (12:07.84) at 2A state in the 3,200 as a freshman and sophomore.
Stanton County state cross country champion Chesney Peterson swept the distance races in the 800 (2:15.91); 1,600 (5:11.31) and 3,200 (11:49.83).
Ellinwood's Parker Scheck qualified with a fourth-place finish in the high jump (5-8). Distance standout Asher Miller just missed qualifying with fifth place in the 1,600 (5:06.22).
