LYONS -- Larned's third-place Lauren Sleder (32-2), Central Plains' fourth-place Eliza Jeffrey (19-12) and sixth-place Central Plains' Charlee Schlessiger (22-10) qualified for the 3-1A state tennis tournament at the Lyons regional. The 3-1A state meet is Oct. 17-18 at the Salina Tennis Center.

Qualifying for the state doubles championship are fourth-place Central Plains' Emery Siemsen/Ashtyn Robl (20-10); Larned's fifth-place Cassie Manry/Maggie Haas (26-7) and Central Plains' sixth place Boston Robison/Aevyn Siemsen (23-9).

"Our tennis team is state bound all around." said Central Plains tennis coach Amy Metro. "We qualified all six players for the state tennis tournament. I'm pleased with how our girls played this weekend. They fought hard and were determined to make it to state. They deserve this accomplishment. Our regional was one of the toughest. I was proud of how well they came through. Everyone played more than one match that went to three sets."

In singles final matches, Sleder downed Jeffrey, 6-0, 6-1 and Ellsworth's Hannah Vague defeated Schlessiger, 6-0, 6-1.

"The Lady Indians played their best tennis they've played all season," said Larned coach Mark Lessard. "We hope to carry momentum into Salina for the State tournament. The Lyons regional was by far the toughest of the four 3-1-A regionals.  Five of the six singles qualifiers and all six doubles qualifiers are seeded in the top 12."

The last time Larned featured multiple state qualifiers was in 2022 when singles players Abby Holt and Ella McNett and a doubles team Arianna Hemken/Breanna Hemken qualified for 3-1A state tennis.

In doubles final matches, Ellsworth's McKenna Anderson/Felis De La Cruz defeated Emery Siemsen/Robl, 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3 and Manry/Haas downed Robison/Aevyn Siemsen, 6-2, 6-3.
