HOISINGTON — Hoisington scored an incredible 40 consecutive points to roar past Concordia 66-24 in Monday's Beloit 3A substate basketball. The Cardinals (17-4) will play Hays-Thomas More Prep in Thursday's semifinal.
The Cardinals led 14-9 when they reeled off 40 points for a 54-9 lead in the third quarter. The Cardinals converted 9 of 17 3-pointers, 8 of 13 in the opening half for a 43-9 lead. Hoisington scored 21 points off 23 turnovers.
Drew Nicholson paced the Cardinals with 21 points and Bralen Thompson added 10 points. Nicholson and Thompson each hit two 3-pointers. Hunter Hanzlick, Braden Mooney, Mason Haxton, Avery Brewer and Ryan Woydziak each hit a 3-pointer.

MOUNDRIDGE — Ellinwood's Mya Maxwell converted two free throws and fouled out Moundridge's leading scorer in a 56-54 victory over the Wildcats in Monday's 2A Inman basketball substate. The Eagles (11-10) play No. 1 seed Sterling (19-2) in Thursday's Inman semifinal.
Maxwell rebounded a miss and made two free throws for a 53-50 lead as Wildcat Kate Eichelberger fouled out after a 21-point night. Daphne Doll sank two free throws for a clinching 56-52 lead.
Allyson McReynolds was Ellinwood's defensive star, slowing down Eichelberger after a 15-point first half. Mary Dimitt scored 14 points and Maxwell and McReynolds each added nine points. The Eagles converted 14 free throws to six by the Wildcats.
Eichelberger scored 21 points and Kaufman added 12 points for Moundridge (10-11).
