MACKSVILLE 64, MEDICINE LODGE 30 

MACKSVILLE — The Medicine Lodge defense knew what was coming and couldn't stop it. Macksville quarterback Ryan Kuckelman gained 195 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Mustangs gained 370 yards to key a 64-30 victory over Medicine Lodge in the 8-man Div. 1 football playoffs. The Mustangs (5-4) advance to the playoff second round with their first playoff victory since 2012. Linemen Fabian Ortiz and Gustavo Portillo led the offensive line.

Kuckelman scored on Macksville's first play on a 39-yard dash. He scored on a 2-yard run and a 45-yard punt return. Hector Gomez delivered the game-changing play with a 42-yard fumble return after stripping the football from Chance Winter for a 48-22 lead. Jason Cleveland scored on runs of 3, 11 and 37 yards to bust the game open. Gomez also scored on a 6-yard run. Rogelio Ibarra scored on a 51-yard touchdown and intercepted an Indian pass.

Medicine Lodge routed the Mustangs 54-14 in Week 3. Indian quarterback Chance Winter scored a rushing touchdown and completed a 29-yard score to Theron Wedel.

KIOWA — Otis-Bison receiver Dalton Regan delivered a dazzling 36-yard reception in a 52-6 playoff loss to South Barber in the 8-man Div. 2 football. Regan juggled the pass from Kaden Foust and held on to set up the Cougars' score. 

South Barber's Gatlin Jewell scored five touchdowns and rushed for 185 yards in Thursday's 8-man football playoffs. Gatlin Jewell scored on runs of 1, 7, 17 and 18 yards and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Briggs Jewell for South Barber (8-1). Briggs Jewell scored on a 29-yard and added a 33-yard scoring strike to Caden Rathgeber.

Otis-Bison ends with a 4-5 record.

WHITEWATER – Ellinwood fullback Cole Petz made the touchdown of the year on a tackle-breaking 57-yard touchdown run in a 40-13 playoff loss to Whitewater-Remington in the 1A football playoffs.

Colby Heinz scored on a 3-yard touchdown for Ellinwood (1-8). Remington quarterback Braden Scribner scored on a 77-yard run and completed TD passes to Sam Entz and Rhett Boughfman.

CALDWELL — Caldwell lightning-fast QB Kiondre Smith ran wild with five touchdowns and 246 yards to spark a 57-8 victory over Central Plains in Thursday's 8-man Div. 2 football playoffs. Smith scored on runs of 3, 44, 49, 55 and 59 yards. Dawson Bristor scored on 20- and 45-yard runs.

Cole Lamatsch scored on a 6-yard run for Central Plains (5-4). Dawson McNeal gained 57 yards and Blaine Hickel added 37 yards rushing. McNeal contributed seven tackles, one for a 10-yard loss.

TESCOTT — Angel Dominguez and Shawn Sheets both scored two touchdowns to spark Stafford past Tescott 46-0 in Thursday's 8-man football game.

Sheets gained 90 yards and Dominguez rushed for 57 yards. Dylan Gantz and Tai Hildebrand also scored rushing touchdowns. Tarrant Young caught a 17-yard scoring pass from Tai Hildebrand, Stafford (5-4) gained 264 yards rushing. Tescott ends with a 2-7 record.

LANGDON — Fairfield completed a two-game sweep over winless St. John with a 46-0 victory in Thursday's 8-man football game. Brady Fowler scored three touchdowns and Camre Haumont scored two times. Azeke Cochran gained 144 yards and scored a touchdown.

The only games Fairfield and St. John have won the past two years are against each other. Fairfield avenged last year’s 34-32 and 56-52 losses to St. John with a dominating 50-0 victory Sept. 18.
