ELLINWOOD 9, SALINA SACRED HEART 6 (2 OT)

SALINA — Ellinwood's German exchange student Moritz Jaehme converted the game-winning 24-yard field goal in the second overtime for a shocking 9-6 football victory over Salina Sacred Heart in 1A, District 3. 

Ellinwood sophomore tackle Jonathan Mason emerged as the Eagles' true hero as he tackled Sacred Heart's Rieker Rutherford twice inside the 3-yard line to preserve a 6-6 tie in the second overtime. Sacred Heart's Thomas Cheney was sidelined with an injury in the second overtime.

Ellinwood recovered a Knights' fumble in the first overtime.

Ellinwood snapped a 20-game losing streak dating back to a 50-20 victory over Sublette Sept. 13, 2019. 

Ellinwood (1-4, 1-2) tied the score 6-6 on an equally shocking 77-yard touchdown pass from Drew Heinz to Cody Zink on third-and-22 from the Eagles' 23-yard line. 

Salina Sacred Heart (0-5, 0-4) scored on Thomas Cheney's 4-yard run right before halftime. Cameron Yohe gained 31 yards to set up the score.

OTIS-BISON 72, TESCOTT 22

OTIS — Otis-Bison quarterback Kaden Foust threw six touchdown passes and accounted for 367 yards as the Cougars roared past Tescott 72-22 in 8-Man 2, District 5. 

Eston Juno caught 4, 13, 30 and 48-yard scoring strikes. Dalton Regan caught 3- and 33-yard scoring passes. Foust threw for 221 yards and rushed for 146 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Ky Schwartz caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Regan.

Foust and Schwartz each had six tackles and four assists for Otis-Bison (3-2, 2-2).

.Blake Green scored a rushing touchdown and threw two scoring passes to Nate Ehlers for Tescott (1-4, 1-2).

VICTORIA — Victoria quarterback Grant Schoenrock was superb with two rushing and two passing touchdowns in a 56-6 victory over Central Plains in 8-Man 2, District 5.

Schoenrock scored on 2- and 4-yard runs and completed scoring strikes to Taylor Anderson and Carson Werth. Nat Windholz rushed for 100 yards and scored on 7 and 63-yard runs.

Victoria (4-1, 3-0) takes control of District 5 and hand the Oilers (4-1, 3-1) their first District loss.

Central Plains quarterback Cole Lamatsch completed a 13-yard scoring pass to Dawson McNeal. Lamatsch accounted for 11 tackles. Hunter Green had five tackles, one for loss and one sack.

HOISINGTON — Hoisington tailback Legend Robinson ruled as Homecoming King with five first-half touchdowns to spark a 36-6 victory over Minneapolis in 2A, District 8. Robinson gained 327 yards rushing and scored on touchdown runs of 2, 2, 17, 37 and 55 yards. 

"You don't find that combination of size and speed," said Hoisington coach Zach Baird. "Legend played great tonight."

Hoisington (4-1, 2-0) stays unbeaten in District while Minneapolis drops to 2-3, 1-1. 

"I'm proud of our guys," Baird said. "They can see the progress. They deserve it."

Chase Steinert intercepted a pass and Gage Britt recovered a fumble.

CALDWELL — Caldwell quarterback Kiondre Smith completed three touchdown passes and rushed for three scores in a 51-14 football victory over Stafford in 8-Man 2, District 6.

Smith rushed for 197 yards and completed three touchdown passes to Dawson Bristor for Caldwell (5-0, 4-0).

Angel Dominguez returned a kickoff 71 yards for a touchdown with 162 return yards for Stafford (2-3, 0-3).

Tarrant Young and Colson Minks intercepted passes. Dylan Gantz contributed 12 tackles and Josh Hildebrand had 10 tackles.

ROZEL — Pawnee Heights QB Adam Hands and Braden Colglazier each accounted for three touchdowns in a hard-fought 45-28 loss to Moscow in 6-man football. Colglazier caught 7- and 10-yard scoring strikes from Hands. Hands scored on a 31-yard punt return. Colglazier scored on a 6-yard run to keep the Tigers (2-3) within range.

Moscow's Anthony Castilleja scored two rushing touchdowns and passed to Alberto Najera on a 22-yard touchdown strike. Aiden Cullison scored on a 43-yard kickoff return and a 1-yard run.

LA CROSSE — Macksville quarterback Ryan Kuckelman scored four touchdowns and rushed for 150 yards in a 64-42 loss to La Crosse in 8-Man 1, District 6 football.

Jason Cleveland and Hector Gomez scored rushing touchdowns for Macksville (1-4, 1-1). 

 La Crosse tailback Colby Stull rushed for 233 yards and scored three touchdowns. Quarterback Caden Morgan passed for 134 yards and four touchdowns with 9 of 13 completions. Gage Burk caught two touchdown passes and Stull and Devyn Braun each caught one touchdown pass. Morgan rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown for La Crosse (3-2, 2-0).

ST. JOHN — Kiowa County tailback Cayden Pore rushed for 142 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 48-0 victory over St. John in 8-Man 1, District 6 football.

Cayden Pore scored on 15, 16 and 45-yard runs. Jordan Smith caught a 16-yard TD pass from Cayden Pore and a 41-yard TD pass from Connor Pore, who also scored on an 8-yard run for the Mavericks (1-4, 1-1).

The Tigers’ Angel Ibarra intercepted a pass and Marco Ibarra dropped Jason Brown for a 10-yard loss. St. John (0-5, 0-2) was sparked by Caden McCandless with 40 yards rushing and 18 yards receiving. The Tigers play at Macksville (1-4, 1-1) Friday.
