DERBY — Bat Cat Simon Larranaga returned to form with a homer and double to spark Great Bend past Derby 12-7 in Sunday's finale of a 4-game series. Great Bend (24-9, 20-8) won three of four games heading to Tuesday's home showdown against Cheney (23-4).

Bat Cat Zane Spinn drove home three runs with productive at-bats. The Bat Cats appreciated Derby's generosity. Six runners scored after reaching base on a walk or hit batter. Three runs scored on Derby errors.

Spinn's first-inning groundout scored Riley Silva. Larranaga's homer sparked a 3-run second inning. Dre Amaral scored on an error and Connor Allen scored on Silva's single. Bodi Wallar and Colby Christian scored third-inning runs after a hit batter and error for a 6-0 lead.

Derby's Karson Klima hit a 2-run single and Cade Baker's RBI third-inning single made it 6-3. Silva scored on Spinn's fourth-inning sacrifice fly. Silva and Gates scored on an error and Spinn scored on Wallar's sixth-inning double for a 10-3 lead.

Trevor Baugh's RBI single and bases-loaded walks by Kirk Trahan and Baker made it 10-6. Great Bend's Amaral scored on a wild pitch and Kyle Gates scored on a passed ball for a 12-6 lead. Baugh's ninth-inning homer ended the scoring.

Bat Cats starter David Stuart (3-1) worked five innings and Matthew Howell and George Austin finished the game.
