Boom splits with Wind

Tevin Padgett rescued the Great Bend Boom with the game-winning home run for a 6-5 home victory over the Garden City Wind Friday at Al Burns Field. The Boom rallied from a 5-2 deficit.
Padgett was a one-man wrecking crew with two RBIs and two runs scored. Reliever Logan Trowbridge earned the victory with two shutout innings.
The Boom scored in the first inning when Darryl Baca’s single scored Sergio Leon after an error. In the seventh inning, Trowbridge singled home Padgett.
The Boom rallied for three eighth-inning runs for a 5-5 tie. Dominique Lincoln singled and scored on D.J. Sharabi’s double. Padgett’s single scored punch runner Ian Miller. Padgett scored on an error for a 5-5 tie.
Great Bend (12-12) travels to Garden City Saturday and returns home Sunday to play Garden City.
• WIND 10, BOOM 1 — The Garden City Wind scored five seventh-inning runs to pull away for a 10-1 victory. Joey Cecere keyed a big night with a two-run double with three extra-base hits. Matt Consigli delivered an RBI single and Ken Olszewski drove a run on a groundout in the seventh inning.
Padgett drove home Dominque Lincoln after Lincoln and R.J. Vuvovich singled in the fifth inning. Pitcher Austin Boyle worked seven innings and yieled one run with five strikeouts. Boom starter Ian Miller (2-2) allowed five runs.
