MEDICINE LODGE — Hoisington High’s Maleigha Schmidt shot 4-over-par 40 to capture medalist honors at Tuesday’s Medicine Lodge Golf Tournament. Schmidt placed seventh at 3-1A state last year.

Hoisington placed first with a 199 team total, 21 strokes ahead of Cheney. Play was delayed twice for lightning.

Cardinal Trinity Dolezel (50) placed fifth. Liza Ward (53) finished eighth, Heavin Hipp (56) 12th and Addison Smith (57) 13th.

NICKERSON — Hoisington (206) placed runner-up at Hutchinson’s Crazy Horse Golf Course. Schmidt (44) placed fourth, Dolezal (46) fifth and Hipp (56) 12th.
