BELOIT — Hoisington freshman sprinter Marley Bittel qualified for state in the 100 (12.37) and 200 (25.59) with a season-best time and anchored the 400-meter relay (49.94) to a gold medal with Shellamae Farmer, Kelsi Maier and Mallory Mooney in the 3A Beloit track regional.

Last year's pole vault champion Farmer placed second (11-6).  Simic qualified in the high jump (5-2). Mooney qualified in the triple jump (35-13/4).

Larned's Kaylee Hagerman was a triple state qualifier in the long jump (16-101/4) and 200 meters (26.59) and anchoring the 400-meter relay (50.76) to third place with Alexa Beltz, Akielah Collins and Taeten Reynolds.

Cara Herbert was a double state qualifier in the first in the 100-meter hurdles (15.33) and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (48.31), both with season-best times.

Cadee Upson placed third in the shot put (36-11/2).

"Our athletes competed super all day," said Hoisington track coach Dan Schmidt. "The regional proved to be one of the most competitive in 3A. Track is strong for many of the teams that participated at Beloit. Fans were treated to a ton of outstanding performances. Sad to say, but many of the athletes that competed would've made it to state if they competed at a different regional."

CARDINAL BOYS — Returning 3A state pole vault champion Josiah Ball won the vault (14-6) and earned four state berths with third in the 300-meter hurdles (40.21), fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.98) and a runner-up medal in the 400-meter relay (43.43) with Courtney Bryant, Jr., Brier Thompson and Mason Alderdice.

The Hoffman brothers qualified with fourth-place finishes -- Caiden, shot put (53-51/2); and Layton, discus (148-7) with a season-best throw.

Taylen Morales placed fourth in the pole vault (13-6).
