WAKEENEY – Hoisington’s Reese Merlau captured the singles championship and Central Plains doubles Ryann Metro/Grace Lamatsch won the doubles division at Saturday’s WaKeeney-Trego tennis tournament.
Merlau defeated Osborne’s Grace William 8-7 (7-5) in a championship tiebreaker. Metro/ Lamatsch defeated Trego’s Annika Dietz/Trista Smith 8-1 in the championship match.
In singles, Hoisington’s Claire Crutcher finished fourth, Central Plains’ Charlee Schlessiger placed eighth and Oiler Whitney Armstrong placed 11th.
In doubles, Central Plains’ Elizah Jeffrey/Boston Robison placed 10thh and Hoisington’s Gracie Bonham-Debolt/Miette Kaiser finished 11th.
