Cardinals surprise CKL leader Haven

HOISINGTON — Hoisington's baseball team rallied from a 8-0 deficit for a shocking 11-10 comeback victory over Central Kansas co-leader Haven (9-1 CKL) to split Tuesday's windswept doubleheader. Hoisington (4-6 CKL) travels to Hillsboro (0-10) Friday.

CARDINALS 11, HAVEN 10 (G2) — Hoisington's Lane French scored on Chase Steinert's game-winning single to cap a stunning rally. Leyton Haxton scored on a passed ball for a 10-10 tie.

Hoisington pitcher Gratton Dalton earned the victory with 22/3 shutout innings after Haven scored 38 runs in 12 innings.

Steinert delivered three doubles that drove home four runs. Dalton doubled and drove home three runs. M.J. Aylward drove in two runs. Tony Moore homered.

Haven's D.J. Miller and Gavin Moore each drove home two runs.

HAVEN 28, CARDINALS 16 (G1) — Haven scored 13 runs in the seventh inning after leading 15-14 after six innings. Haven's Ty Lastinger homered and drove home seven runs. Dalton Bontrager drove in five runs with three hits. Preston Sander drove in four runs.

Hoisington delivered six doubles and Steinert homered in a 18-hit attack. Ethan Graff and Steinert each drove home three runs. Marcus Ingram drove home two runs.
